Don McCullin is one of the greatest photographers of our time, at least in my opinion. He has risked life and limb to bring us images of war which have become iconic of the 20th century and which have made us uncomfortable. Witnessing man’s inhumanity to man (worse now than ever in history) has taken its toll on him. In interviews I have seen with him and in photos I cannot remember him smiling. It’s as if he carries a burden with him always. We need more brave and honest men like Mr McCullin. Here is a short audio slideshow with his commentary.
